Submit your portfolio for consideration
An open call for African photographers to be featured in our newsletter

We are excited to open up submissions for our weekly features of African photography, and welcome interested photographers to submit their portfolio for consideration.
This open call will close on February 28, 2026.
Here are a few guidelines:
For the purpose of the newsletter, an “African photographer” is defined as anyone who was born in any country of the continent; or is based there; or who has, within the past 7 years, produced a significant series of photographs within the continent.
Please submit a selection of 5-10 photographs by email to newsletter@tender.photo. The images should be compiled into a PDF of no more than 5MB.
Include your name in the subject line, and a short bio in the body of the email.
Our priority will tilt towards existing members of our newsletter community, so we kindly ask you to submit your portfolio from the same email address you used in subscribing to the newsletter. If you haven’t already, we recommend that you subscribe to the newsletter before sending in your submission.
All images must have been made on the African continent. There is no restriction on style or subject matter. A good way to grasp the diversity of work featured in the newsletter is to look at previous editions.
No compensation is currently being offered for a feature. However, there are ongoing possibilities for exhibitions of work that have been featured in the newsletter. In 2025, Tender Photos exhibited a selection of photographs featured in our newsletter at the LagosPhoto Festival.
Due to the number of submissions, kindly note that a response might take 1-3 months. Only photographers whose work will be featured will be contacted.
Thank you for your support for the Tender Photo newsletter.
Tender Visions, our cross-disciplinary commissioning project for photographers and writers developed in collaboration with the Open Society Foundation is ongoing. Learn more here.
